KAVA
Kava is used by the modern world as an anti-depressant, stress reliever and muscle relaxant. The effects are similar to Valerian root in that they help with similar symptoms. We chose Kava as our main relaxation ingrediant because it has also been used in our culture for thousands of years and we are excited to be able to represent the kava culture with Bula. Kava and Bula come from the roots of the South Pacific.
Hawaiians used Kava as an asthma remedy, Fijians drank kava as a nightly ritual to eases the day’s anxieties. Kava kava is largely used as a celebratory drink in the South Pacific. Kava is still used today to mark celebratory events such as weddings, public festivals, and holidays, and it is even used in ceremonies honoring the dead. Unlike alcohol, kava does not produce or stimulate aggression, and it does not condemn the user to the dreaded hangover.

VALERIAN ROOTS
Valerian roots help with insomnia, nervous tension, anxiety, hysteria, excitability, stress and cramps. Valerian has an effect that is calming but doesn’t cause sleepiness the following day.

Bula’s savoring pomegranate berry flavor was selected from 200 flavors as part of a rigorous taste test. This included selected bartenders, public figures, night club and relaxation-related business owners, as well as the public. Not only does Bula capture the relaxation components of Kava, it also brings in a new, refreshing, and enjoyable taste. At first sip some of you familiar with kava might notice the peppery Kava undertones. We are very pleased with the flavor of Bula and how we’ve created a quality tasting beverage and functionally fused the Bula taste with the relaxation properties of Kava and Valerian roots.

Bula is a drink rooted by culture. We take pride in being a company created and operated by Polynesians and being able to represent part of the kava culture to the world. Kava culture has been a part of the South Pacific for thousands of years and we have great respect for the sacredness of the rituals and protocols found in each Pacific culture.
